Finding
files
Windows Vista

Oops you lost a file? Perhaps you can’t
remember the file name, and all you recall is the subject of a file. No
problem...
To find a file
1. Click Start
2. Click Search
3.
Click the appropriate file type, or choose All Files
4.
Type in the name of the file or a partial name in the
top right corner and windows will automatically start to find files
by that name as you type.
Results
will show in the center of the window.
5.
Click on the file and the files information will
appear at the bottom of the window.
6.
If an image or picture, you can edit it right from the search
window. Click Open and choose the program you
would like to use.
Advanced
Search
1.
If you do not see the file you need, then go to advance
search. Click Advance Search in the center of
the window.
2.
Click on Location to specify where you want it to look
for your file.
3.
Change any of the other options by clicking the small arrow
next to that option. Type in your file name or a
part of the file name and click Search.

Other options within the search window:
a. Change Icon view
1. Click on Views and move the slider
to choose the view you prefer.
